Ernest Hall Jr.

Ernest “Ernie” B. Hall Jr., 64, of Proctorville met his Heavenly Father and was embraced by his parents Ernest B. Hall Sr. and Leona Belle Pinkerman Hall on Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013 at his home. He was born March 3, 1948 in Huntington, W.Va.

Ernie is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Clorinda Rood Hall; three loving children Ernie III (Tara) Hall, Ericca (Ben) Workman and Evan (Jodi) Hall; his seven precious grandchildren that were an inspiration to him and the love of his life, Tori, Lexi, Kali, and Ernie “E.B.” Hall IV, Madi and Maci Workman and Isla Faith Hall. He is also survived by his mother-in-law and father-in-law that were like his own parents, Ernest Ralph and Myrtle Rood; two loving sisters Elaine (John) White of Jacksonville, Fla., and Eileen (Orlas) O’Neil of Salt Rock, W.Va.; two brothers-in-law Phil Rood and Ralph D. (Patricia) Rood; nephews and nieces, John White Jr., Denise Hooks, Earl Lake Jr., Caroline (Matt) Schleider, Chris (Mandy) Rood, Amy (Kevin) Stowasser; four great nieces; two great nephews; one great-great nephew; his cousin Carl Bowen whom he thought of as a brother and his caregiver Ernie “Bub” Humphrey.

Ernie was a 1966 graduate of Fairland High School and a 1969 graduate of Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. He attended West Virginia Tech on a basketball and baseball scholarship. Ernie, along with his wife and three children were owners of Hall Funeral Home Proctorville, River Valley Crematory Proctorville, and Miller Memorial Gardens in Miller, Ohio. Ernie was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church and Gideons International, Proctorville Masonic Lodge #550 F&AM, 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason Valley of Cincinnati, El Hasa Shriner, member of Proctorville Teresa Chapter #257 OES and a Kentucky Colonel.

Ernie was a member of the Ohio Funeral Directors Association, Chesapeake Proctorville Lions Club, Lawrence County Area Chamber of Commerce and an associate member of Proctorville VFW Post #6878. Ernie was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports. He also liked to attend games and watch the Marshall Thundering Herd and Cincinnati Reds. Ernie enjoyed traveling with his family and creating lasting memories. Anyone that knew Ernie will remember his infectious smile, great sense of humor, humbleness and generosity to all he met.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville by Pastor Jeff Black, Pastor Brady Lipscomb, Dr. Gary Patton and Pastor Dwayne Shugert. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens in Miller. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home with Masonic services to be held at 9 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Ernie Hall III, Evan Hall, E.B. Hall IV, Ben Workman, John White Jr., Chris Rood, Earl Lake Jr., Glen Stapleton, Greg Crabtree and Ernie Humphrey. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Ralph Rood, Phil Rood, Ralph D. Rood, Carl Bowen, Larry Alberts, Tommy “Tuck” Cooper, Herb Nida, Bob O’Lynn, Tommy Russell, Alan Estep, Richard Unroe, Dick Brammer, John Chapman and Arthur J. Williams.

Darren Elswick

Darren Keith Elswick, 47, of South Point, Ohio passed away Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The Ironton native was born Sept. 15, 1965, the son of the late Marion G. and Lorena Elswick Pizelli. He is survived by his wife, Eloise “Sage” Dameron Elswick

Darren attended Ironton High School and was a former salesman for the Global Tire Company. He was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Dameron; and his sister-in-law, Rosa Wilson.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Aaron Elswick of Ironton; a daughter, Christina Elswick of Ironton; granddaughter, Halie James; two brothers, Howard S. Elswick and Kodi Pizelli both of Ironton; a sister:,Shelly and John Brooks of Ironton; and his father-in-law: John and Doris Dameron of South Point.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with Brother Dave Schug officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery and visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Jeanette Broce

Jeanette L. Lester Broce, 79, of Barboursville, W.Va., died Monday, Feb. 11, 2013 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. She is survived by her spouse, Frank Broce. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville.

 

Ruth Elswick

Ruth Elswick, 75 of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at the King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, after a courageous battle with cancer with her family at her side.

She was born Sept. 27, 1937, a daughter of the late Maggie Biggs Wilson and the late Ogle Wilson. She was a homemaker and of the Pentecostal faith.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Paul Eugene Elswick, and three brothers, Carl, Ralph and Richard Wilson.

She is survived by four sons, Paul Eddie(Lisa) Elswick , Danny (Cheryl Turvey) Elswick, Steven (Rhonda) Elswick, Paul (Monica) Loar; two daughters, Judy (Joseph) Miller, all of Ironton, and Melissa (Josh) Pemberton of Ashland; a sister, Rosemary Elswick, also of Ironton; 16 grandchildren; Amanda Elswick, Steven (Ashleigh) Elswick Nikki Elswick, Brooke Elswick, Krissy Elswick, Chandra Elswick, Shawna Elswick, Paul Elswick, Matt (Heather) Miller, Austin Pemberton, Bradley Pemberton, Hailey Pemberton, Dylan Pemberton, Paul Loar, Vanessa Loar, and Mathew Loar; five great grandchildren, Serenity Phillips, Brayden Elswick, Brody Adams, Hunter and Haleigh Miller and a host of family and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Brown Funeral Chapel with Pastor Jack Pemberton and Deacon Jim Carpenter Officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in the Hecla Cemetery.

Mary Morgan

Mary E. Morgan, 91, of Ironton, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at a local health care center. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.

Roger D. Schwab, 62, of Greenup, Ky., died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, at his residence. Arrangements are pending at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky.

Joseph Zonder Curico, 67, of Chesapeake died Friday, Feb. 8, 2013 at Holzer Medical Center of Jackson in Jackson, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his spouse, Norma Curico. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home in Proctorville.
