The Ironton Classic

The Ironton Classic has a who’s who lineup. It also has a team that reads like a who’s who list.

The Oak Hill Academy Warriors — an annual national power — brings its usual roster of talent players who are being heavily recruited by the top college programs.

The Warriors will play Columbus Walnut Ridge at 5 p.m. Monday and Cincinnati Princeton at 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Ironton Classic at the Ironton Sports Center.

Oak Hill Academy is expected to be ranked No. 1 in the next national poll following the loss of top-ranked Findlay Academy to Columbus Northland last Thursday.

The team roster has Juwan State who has all ready signed with the University of Dayton and Bay Moussa Keita who is headed for Syracuse.

Their teammates haven’t signed, but they are being heavily recruited by Division I schools.

Martins Abele is on the list of Manhattan, North Carolina-Asheville and Radford. Roscoe Smith is talking with Connecticut, Duke and Georgetown.

Doron Lamb’s list of suitors includes Kentucky, Connecticut, Ohio, Kansas and Arizona. Pe ‘Shon Howard is being courted by South Florida, Georgia Tech, Virginia, Northwestern and UCLA.

Oak Hill — located in Mouth of Wilson, Va. — has an enrollment of 150. The program has won national championships seven times and been runners-up on six occasions including last season.
