FRANKLIN FURNACE — Doris Arthur Blanton, 73, of Franklin Furnace, passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at her residence. She was born Dec. 28, 1937, the daughter of the late Albert Arthur and Louise Fain Arthur.

Doris was a 1957 graduate of Ashland Paul Blazer High School. She retired in 1998 after working 42 years in the payroll department at Ashland Oil Inc. After retirement she volunteered for Natural Health Through Chiropractic at Blanton Family Chiropractic and ABC Chiropractic. The Lord saved her Soul in 1985 and she attended the Ohio Valley United Baptist Church in Wheelersburg, Ohio.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Faye and Ralph Holbrook and Maye Arthur; brothers, Clyde Arthur, James Paul Arthur, William Arthur, Carl Arthur and Harold and Doris Ann Arthur; and brother in laws, John Patrick, Dick Riffitt and Jack Gentry.

She is survived by husband, Jimmy Eubert Blanton whom she married Aug. 3, 1963; son and daughter in law, Jimmy and Krista Blanton of Scott Depot, W.Va.; daughter and son in law, Amber and Garrett McCalvin of Franklin Furnace; grandson, Kieffer McCalvin of Franklin Furnace; five sisters, Lorraine Patrick of Franklin Furnace, Gereline Riffitt of Franklin Furnace, Bethany and Dallas Holbrook of Kitts Hill, Wilma and Bill Castle of Ashland, Ky., and Daphne Gentry of Ashland, Ky.; and a brother, Tony and Darlene Arthur of Ashland, Ky.

Funeral service will be Thursday at 1p.m. at Phillips Funeral Home, with Ike Flaugher, Doug Ward, Clayton Oliver and J.D. Riggsby officiating. Burial will follow in Haverhill Cemetery.
