Lady Vikes rout Eagles

BEAVER — It was time to get serious.

The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings lost their first three games, but the Southern Ohio Conference began Thursday and they rolled to a 12-2 win over the Eastern Lady Eagles.

“We hit the ball really well, but our defense has to get better. It’s nice to get a win, though,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Odie Estep.

Beth Brown and Katie Hill were 3-5, Hannah Roach and Autumn Keathley 2-5 and Hannah Maynard 2-4 as the Lady Vikings had 14 hits.

The Vikings took a 5-0 lead in the first inning on RBI singles b Maynard, Keathley and Cheianne Hivley.

Roach singled, Brown had an RBI double and Hill an RBI single in the third. Maynard singled and a wild pitch scored a run to make it 8-0.

Three more runs scored in the sixth on a walk, a single by Brown, a wild pitch and Hill’s two-run single.

The final run scored in the seventh on singles by Karie Brumbaugh, Brown and Hill.
