AID — Cody Myers had a memorable career, and his final game is one his teammates will remembers as well.

Myers fired a five-inning no-hitter as the Symmes Valley Vikings blanked the Eastern Eagles 17-0 on Monday to wrap up the Southern Ohio Conference championship outright.

Myers is one of four seniors who celebrated a championship in each season they played. Scott Dial, Garrett Foster, Jordan Fulford and Myers are the team’s four seniors.

“Our seniors not only contributed to this championship on the field, but they were leaders off the field as well,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.

“Cody pitched a good game and we got a lot of timely hits. We should a lot of patient at the plate and we played well in the field. It was a good team win and a great way for the seniors to go out.”

The Vikings finish the season 14-10 overall and 13-1 in the SOC. The championship was the fifth straight league title for the Vikings.

Foster went 2-4 and D.J. Miller 2-2 as the Vikings banged out 10 hits. Dylan Pelletier and Miller each had triples and Dial a double.

Miller had a three-run triple in the first inning as the Vikings took a 5-0 lead. Pelletier drove in two runs with his triple in the second inning as the lead grew to 10-0.

Myers struck out nine and walked four in getting the win.

Eastern pitchers combined for six walks and six hit batsmen to go along with three errors.
