Ironton golfers lose at Jackson match

JACKSON — The Ironton Fighting Tigers dropped a duel golf match against the Jackson Ironmen on Thursday at Franklin Valley Golf Club.

Jackson had a 167 total while Ironton shot 195 collectively.

Jaylen Thornhill shot a 42 and Luke Diamond carded a 47 to lead Ironton. Cory Rawlins had a 50 and Rhett Ball shot a 56. Brody Stormes added a 61 and Travis Taylor a 63 for the Fighting Tigers.

Jackson was led by medalist Evan Massie with a 38 with Tyler Williams one shot back. Cole Massie and Dakota Simpson each shot a 45. Adam Kirby also had a 45 and Logan Simpson a 46.

 

Lady Pointers top Chesapeake in soccer

SOUTH POINT — The South Point Lady Pointers beat the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Thursday in a soccer match.

Dreama Thacker had both goals for South Point (1-6-1). Emilee Powell and Ariel Brumfield each had an assistst while Alex Ross-Aaron had 13 saves.

On Tuesday, the Lady Pointers lost a tough 4-3 match at Huntington St. Joe.

Elaine Gore scored all three goals for South Point while Ross-Aaron registered 17 goalkeeper saves and Powell had an assist.

South Point hosted Lincoln County, W.Va., on Saturday.
