LLOYD, Ky. — The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers lost a game and maybe something even more valuable.
Ironton fell 12-4 to the Greenup County Lady Musketeers on Monday and they also lost standout senior shortstop Rebekkah Potter for most of the game.
Ironton jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
Taylor Monk was hit by a pitch, Saige Fields put down a sacrifice bunt and Potter crushed the first pitch for a two-run homer.
Greenup scored three runs in the bottom of the inning and got two more in the second.
Ironton (4-8) scored in the third when Potter tripled and Andi Kratzenberg hit a sacrifice fly.
But Potter hurt her knee sliding into home on the play and left the game.
Greenup got the run back in the bottom of the third and added two runs each in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings.
Potter was 2-2 and Karlee McMackin 2-4 as Ironton had seven hits.
Greenup (8-10) had 11 hits with Madi Green and Lexy Traylor going 2-3 and Paige Howard 2-4.
Ironton hosts Rock Hill on Thursday.
