Ironton aLive had its annual officer meeting this past week, where group officers were named and updates were given on upcoming events.
The officers are Sam Heighton as the executive director, Ginger Gillenwater, chairwoman, Sarah Smith, co-chair, Susan Dooley, secretary, Cindy Anderson, design chair, Carol Allen, parliamentary, and Bob Cleary, business enhancement chair.
The second annual Farm to Table Dinner is set for 6 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Oak Ridge House. The menu and other details are still to be determined.
Mike Pearson, who is in chargo of travel and tourism in the group, is interested in setting up a wine making co-op, which would involve local farmers or anyone who would be interested in farming the produce needed for wine making.
Although this is a project that may take several years, Pearson said he wants to get it off the ground because wine is a draw for tourism.
A meeting for anyone interested is set for 2 p.m. April 19 at the Ironton Holiday Inn.
The group’s first Christmas meeting is set for 6 p.m. March 23 in the Ironton City Center lobby. Anyone wishing to help Ironton aLive downtown for the Christmas holiday is welcome to attend.
A Business After Hours event, in conjunction with LEDC, is going to be April 27, with a location still to be determined.
Ironton aLive is also currently looking for sponsors for the Tuesday Night Summer Concert Series, in conjunction with Studimo, each year in June, July and August. Musical acts will be announced before the start of the season.
Gillenwater said the group is participating in the Memorial Day Parade this year, something it hasn’t been a part of before.
