SHERIDAN — Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies responded after a body was found on Sunday in the Sheridan area.

A kayaker spotted the body on the bank of the Ohio River in the vicinity of McGinnis Inc. at 11 a.m., Sheriff Jeff Lawless said. He said deputies took a marine patrol boat and recovered the body of a male, following the report.

The Lawrence County Coroner also responded to the scene. Lawless said the subject has been identified, but the name has not been released yet.

According to media reports, the body was turned over to Huntington Police Department.
