Gerald D. “Jerry” Ison, 57, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born Jan. 13, 1961, a son of Dorothy Watkins Ison Henson, of Ironton, and the late Kenneth Ison.
Gerald attended Rock Hill High School and was a former carpenter for Kenny Suttles Construction. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and fishing, and was of the Apostolic faith.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James Alvin Ison, Paul Steven Ison and Robert Lee Ison.
In addition to his mother, he is survived and will be missed dearly by two brothers, Kenneth Ison Jr. and David (Tina) Ison, both of Ironton; four sisters, Lisa (Ronnie Lee) Abrams, of Pedro, Anne Spurlock, of Flatwoods, Kentucky, Brenda Moore, of Ironton, and April Ison Rodehaver, of South Point; two special nephews, Mikkael (Brittany) Ison and Randy (Brittany) Ison; special nieces, Meghan Ison, Raygen Ison and Aubree Ison; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Ricky Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Monday at the funeral home.
