Goober’s grandpa sort of a war hero

A remembers a story my grandpa once told me from when he was in World War II.
Seems him and this other soldier from Tennessee wuz on a reconnaissance mission when they go captured by enemy German soldiers.
Well, they had a trial and sentenced them to die. The German commanding officer asked if they had any last request and the soldier from Tennessee said yes. “I’d like to hear ‘Rocky Top’ ten more times.”
The commander said OK and then asked me if I had any requests. I said, “Just one. Shoot me first.”
The commander thought that wuz an odd request and decided to listen to Rocky Top. About halfway through, he shot the record to pieces.
Grandpa was sure if he wuz happier to be alive or to have avoided hearing the song.
Ennywho, last week I wuz 10-4 to bring the season mark to 45-16. I just hopes it gits easier this week.
Ironton at South Point: If the fans is worryin’ bout the Tigers being flat, don’t. Ironton 42, South Point 13.
Chesapeake at Coal Grove: The battle fer the Little Brown Jug. If it were up to Ol’ Goober’s relatives, that jug would be full of moonshine. Chesapeake 35, Coal Grove 22.
Rock Hill at Fairland: This is land vs. air. I likes my feet planted firmly on the ground, but… Fairland 28, Rock Hill 21.
Portsmouth at Gallipolis: Battle of OVC unbeaten and Parker vs. Armstrong. Fergit all that. Take the Blue Devils’ linemen. Gallipolis 38, Portsmouth 34.
Symmes Valley at Sciotoville East: This one is just a practice fer the real one when they meet against in three weeks. Symmes Valley 24, East 16.
Green at Fairview: The Bobcats are lookin’ fer a second straight winnin’ season. This is a step in that direction. Green 36, Fairview 18.
