PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Trojans haven been playing well as of late. They didn’t stop that success on Tuesday.
The Trojans continued their late-season improvement with a 76-55 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redmen.
Michael Fraulini had 19 points, Chris Duff had 14, Miles Shipp 13 and Drew Roe 10 as four Trojans scored in double figures.
Both Fraulini and Duff made four 3-pointers each.
Nick Blankenship scored 12 points to pace a balanced Rock Hill offense. Owen Hankins and Braden Stamper added 9 points each.
Fraulini hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored 8 points as Portsmouth took a 16-11 first quarter lead.
Blankenship and Hankins scored 4 points each and Stamper made a 3-pointer for Rock Hill’s total.
The Trojans added to their lead in the second quarter by two points as Duff hit three 3-pointers and Shipp added 4 more points to make it 37-30 at the half.
Garrett Miller nailed a 3-pointer and sank 2-of-2 free throws, Blankenship had 4 points and Stamper hit another trey to keep the Redmen close.
Portsmouth extended its lead to 54-43 after three quarters as Fraulini, Duff and Jesse Dixon all scored 5 points including a 3-pointer.
Logan Hankins drained a pair of trifectas and Blankenship had 4 points to pace the Redmen in the quarter.
The Trojans were finally able to pull away in the fourth quarter as they outscored Rock Hill 22-12.
Fraulini hit another 3-pointer and scored 5 points and the Trojans converted 9-of-12 from the foul line with Shipp hitting 5-of-6 free throws as he scored 7 points and Roe sinking 4-of-6.
Five different players scored for the Redmen.
On Friday, Rock Hill visits South Point and Portsmouth entertains Gallipolis.
