Clara Walters

ALLIANCE — Clara Walters, 91, of Alliance, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Alliance Community Hospital.

She was born Dec. 12, 1919 in Olive Hill, Carter County, Ky., and lived in Alliance most of her life.

She was a member of the Pennsylvania Avenue Freewill Baptist Church and had been employed with the Alliance Review, where she was a paper driver.

She is survived by a daughter, Jean Zimmerman of Bradenton, Fla.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carrie Payton of Alliance, and Susan Bryant of Niles and a brother, John J. Knipp of Alliance.

Preceding her in death was her husband, Clair “Bud” Walters, on Jan. 2, 2006, whom she married Sept 14, 1964; a daughter, Elsie Barker; her parents, William Louis and Lou Minta (Barker) Knipp; and six brothers, Jack Andrew Knipp, Billie Lee Knipp, Fred C. Knipp, Dempsey Arvil Knipp, Jessie D. Knipp and Charles F. Knipp.

In Alliance, visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Sharer-Stirling-Skivolocke Funeral Home.  Funeral services will begin at 8 p.m. with the Rev. Chester Bryant officiating.

In Ironton, visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home Funeral services will be 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Buckhorn Cemetery in Lawrence County.

Raymond Waller

Raymond Garland Waller, 87, of Ironton passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at home with his loving daughter Brenda and great granddaughter Brooke.

He was born Dec 8, 1923, in Deering to the late George and Maymie Melvin Waller.

He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Tenth Mountain division 85 C., life member of West Jefferson VFW Post 7005, a member of Masonic lodge # 221 West Jefferson, a member of Aladdin Shrine Club, Columbus, the Horse Traders of Rush, Ky., past Patron of Order of Eastern Star serving three terms, member of the Kentucky Colonels. He was a member of the Labor International Union working construction, and an employee at Allied Chemical.

He was preceded in death by three wives, Wilma Marie Waller, Glenna Waller and Carol Porter Waller; two brothers, John Waller and George Waller; and two sisters, Beatrice Willis and Hazel Campbell.

Survivors include daughters, Brenda Bare of Ironton and Julia and Albert Clay of Land of Lake Fla.; step daughters, Ramona and Joe Fleming of Fredericktown and Christine and David Ott of Alexandria; grandchildren include Jerry Lee and Michelle Bear of West Jefferson, Monique and Paul Jacobsen, Tony Clay, Jeff and Melissa Clay, Fontz Clay, Ray and Francis Clay, all of Auburndale, Fla., Missy and Keith Hume, Angela and Ryan Thornton, Joey Fleming, Mandi and Ray Hubschman; 12 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be today from 6-9 p.m. at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home. Masonic services will be at 7 p.m. Interment will be at noon Friday at Sunset Cemetery, 6959 W. Broad St. Galloway.
