The Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers need a cluster.

The Lady Tigers had enough hits, but not together as they lost 12-3 to the Fairview Lady Eagles on Monday.

Ironton (0-2) had eight hits with Aley Carmon going 2-4 and Taylor Monk 1-3 with a double.

“We hit the ball a little better than our first game against Minford when Kylie Barcus had the lone hit,” said Ironton coach Missy Fields.

“Tonight we had eight hits but we couldn’t get them to fall together. Fairview hit the ball really well. Defensively we played pretty good but we need to give much more effort in making big plays.”

Fairview (4-3) had 14 hits as Eryn Burke went 3-4, Sarah Dunn 2-3, Madison Kirk 2-4 and Sydney Ekers 2-5

The Lady Eagles had nine hits in a six-run fifth inning.

Ironton hosts South Point on Tuesday before playing at Coal Grove Thursday, Rock Hill Friday and Fairland Saturday.

“We have a lot of good ball players this year on our team. We will continue to work to play better as a team and make it all jive together,” said Fields. “A win under our belts will do a lot of good to help their confidence.”
