Virginia Colwell

Dec. 8, 1925 — Jan. 7, 2015

 

Virginia “Jenny” Louise Reynolds Powers Keaton Colwell, 89, of Franklin Furnace, died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2015, after a long illness. Mrs. Colwell was born Dec. 8, 1925, in Ironton, to the late William and Julia Etta Neff Hankins Reynolds. She was a 1943 graduate of Ironton High School. She was a devout Christian and loved singing.

She is survived by two daughters, Karan (Don) Powers Stapleton and Tara Noel Colwell Harkless; two granddaughters, Shari Stapleton Caudill and Carrie (Curt) Stapleton Smith; one grandson, Michael Levi Harkless; one great-granddaughter, Cecillia Maria Smith; and three great-grandsons, Curtis Tyler Smith, Caleb David Smith and Corban Ray Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Sterling Coe Powers Jr., Jim Keaton and Raymond Colwell, whom she married Oct. 5, 1962; a daughter, Janet Sue Powers; one granddaughter, Krysten Noel Harkless; two brothers, Earl Hankins and Carl Hankins; six sisters, Ruth Hankins Collins, Garnet Hankins Leverton, Nellie Hankins Bachelor, Thelma Hankins Sexton, Helen Hankins Keith, Marion “Billie” Reynolds and Forest Chapman; and one half brother, Leonard Reynolds.

Arrangements are being handled by Harrison Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg and Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg, Indiana. There will be no visitation with burial at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Alzheimer’s Association in Mrs. Colwell’s name.

 

 

Paul Wiley

Paul Gene Wiley, 53, of Huntington, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point. Burial will follow in Docks Creek Cemetery in Kenova. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

 

 

Beulah Lyon

Beulah Leatrice Clark Lyon, 84, of Ashland, died Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell. A private burial will take place at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods.
