Laura Noble

Sept. 14, 1948 — Jan. 8, 2016

Laura R. Noble, 67, of Coal Grove, passed away Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, at the St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The Ashland, Kentucky, native was born Sept. 14, 1948, a daughter of the late Fred McSorley and Pauline Carpenter McSorley Kingery. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James E. Noble, Sr. who passed away Dec. 6, 2005.

Mrs. Noble attended school in Coal Grove and was a former employee for the River Valley Health System in Ironton.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jackie L. Noble; three brothers, Fred McSorley, Jim McSorley and Tommy Kingery; and a sister, Spicy Krager.

She is survived by two sons, Michael (Tammy) Noble and James E. (Renee) Noble Jr., all of Coal Grove; a daughter, Laurie (Robert Fortner) Hicks, of Coal Grove; four sisters, Gladys (Howard) Sparks, of Wheelersburg, Paula (Mitch) McDow, of Ashland, Kentucky, Terri (Mike) Delawder, of Coal Grove and Marg (Ronnie) Dickess, all of Coal Grove; three brothers, Tracy (Diane) Kingery, of Piketon, Jack Kingery, of Ironton and Dennis (Lorrie) Kingery, of Ironton; grandchildren, Shawn Hicks, Deven (Ronald) Harrison, Cody (Amber) Noble, Josh and Jeff Smith, James Fannin, Ashley Friend, Crystal, Payton, Kayla Bolt, Robert Fortner, Jr. and Derek Fortner; great-grandchildren, James Harrison, Kimmy Noble, Oliver Fannin, Isabella Smith, Beth Smith, Skylar Bolt and Jordan Fortner; and a brother-in-law, Ed (Azzey) Thompson, of Coal Grove.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be Wednesday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. James Wooten

Sept. 3, 1942 — Jan. 10, 2016

James Harrison Wooten, 73, of Portsmouth, passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016, with his beloved family beside him, at Southern Ohio Medical Center in Portsmouth.

He was born in Ironton on Sept. 3, 1942, and was a son of the late James Edward and Helen Jenkins Wooten.

James was a veteran of the Marine Corps, and was a member of the painters local 555.

He was preceded in death by a brother, George Wooten; and two sons, Charles Alfred and Ottis Charles Wooten.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Martin Wooten, whom he married Feb. 8, 1965; a brother, Roger and Karen Wooten, of Columbus; a sister, Mary Agnes Goody, of Pedro; one son, James Edward Wooten, of Portsmouth; four daughters, Michael and Cynthia Watson, of Portsmouth, Gerald Ray (deceased) and Anita Marie Riley, of Franklin Furnace, Michael (deceased) and Deborah Youkers, of Portsmouth and Cathy Lockwood, of Ironton; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

There will be a private family service and no visitation.

Arrangements are under the direction of F. C. Daehler Mortuary Company of Portsmouth.

 

Edna Warneke

Edna E. Warneke, 86, of Beavercreek, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016. She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Otis Lee Warneke in 2012; her parents, Samuel Derifeld and Lena Rivers Bishop; four sisters, Monnie Clark, Vina Derifeld, Bonnie Simpson and Dorothy Lewis; and a brother, Robert Derifeld. Edna is survived by her son and daughter in-law, Richard and Vickie Warneke; daughter and son- in-law, Victoria and Fred Waldren; four grandchildren, Michelle Waldren, Mindy Waldren, Amy (Curt) Hensley and Sarah Steele; three great-grandchildren, Riley Hensley, Pierce Hensley and Kylie Steele; and numerous other relatives and friends. Edna was a member of the Blessed Hope Baptist Church and the VFW #8312 Ladies Auxiliary.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday at the Blessed Hope Baptist Church, 3151 Annabelle Dr., Kettering, Ohio 45429 with the Rev. H. C. O’Bryant officiating. Interment will follow in Valley View Memorial Gardens. The family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Thursday from 5-8 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Tobias Funeral Home-Beavercreek Chapel. Lee Ann O’Neill, 92, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital. Arrangements are pending O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.

 

Carl Wooten

April 13, 1934 — Jan. 9, 2016

Carl C. Wooten, 81, passed away Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at Cornerstone Hospital in Huntington. The Lawrence County native was born April 13, 1934, a son of the late Carl Wooten Sr. and Anna Baugh Wooten. He was a graduate of Rock Hill High School, retired from the United States Army, and loved being with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lillie Wooten, whom he married June 22, 1952.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Albert Wooten; and sister, Sylvia Easterling.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by daughters, Sherry (John) Morrissey, of St. Petersburg, Florida, Tamara (Ron) Withrow, of Ironton and Kris (Tom) Fitzwater, of Las Vegas, Nevada; grandchildren, Matthew (Amy) Withrow, of Columbus and Amber Morrissey, of St. Petersburg, Florida; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Zoey Erickson, of St. Petersburg, Florida and a baby boy on the way; special nephews, Mark Wooten, of Delta, Pennsylvania and Mike Wooten, of Girard; brothers-in-law, William (Shirley) Burks and John (Candy) Burks; sister-in-law, Alberta Wagner; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Ronnie Eaches officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from noon until time of the service at the funeral home, with burial at Pine Grove Cemetery. Ronald Pennington

July 14, 1950 — Jan. 9, 2016

Ronald Gene Pennington, 65, of Ironton, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2016, at his home following an extended illness. He was born July 14, 1950, in Ironton. Ron was a retired millwright with AK Steel and was a member of the New Hope Church of God. Surviving include his wife, Janis Hill Pennington; a daughter, Cheri Lynn Massie and husband Wayne, of Wheelersburg; two grandchildren, Rae Lynn and Ron Garrett Massie; a sister-in-law, Judi Miller of Waverly; and a brother-in-law and best friend of 45 years, Eddie (Peggy) Hill. Donna Malone

March 19, 1928 — Jan. 11, 2016

Donna M. Malone, 87, of Pedro, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2016, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born March 19, 1928, the daughter of the late Algie and Ada Deffenbaugh Bond. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl E. Malone, Sr.

Mrs. Malone was a graduate of St. Lawrence Catholic School, was a former health care aid for the Bond Nursing Home, Oak Hill Hospital, Jo-Lin Health Center and a former cook at the Job Corp. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Pine Grove.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Jane “Janie” Robinson; two sisters, Mary Jane Bond and Kay Latka; and three brothers, James Bond, Darwin Bond and Archie Bond.

She is survived by two sons, Carl E. “Sonny” (Diane) Malone Jr. and David Keith (Lorraine) Malone, all of Kitts Hill; a son-in-law, Stanley Lee Robinson, of Pedro; six grandchildren, Angie (Beau) Dillon, Matt (Ashley) Malone, Tammy (John) Thomas, Rob (Jamie) Malone, Andy (Amber) Robinson and Tommy (Joy) Robinson; 10 great-grandchildren, Taylor Dillon, Caitlin Dillon, Braden Malone, Brycen Malone, Braxten Malone, Wray-Lynn Thomas, Garrett Malone, Owen Malone, MacKenzie Marie Robinson and Rylee Andrew Robinson; and special friends, Audrey Malone, of Decatur, Mary and David Palmer, of Franklin Furnace and Wayne and Bonnie Albright, of Decatur.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with Father David Huffman officiating. Burial will follow in Slabfork Cemetery and visitation will be Wednesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
