PROCTORVILLE — Now, that’s a debut.
Freshman Kylie Howard pitched a complete game and belted a double and a home run in her first high school game as the Rock Hill Redwomen slugged the Fairland Lady Dragons 12-3 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
Howard gave up five hits and struck out one in going the distance.
Rock Hill got a run in the third inning to snap a scoreless tie.
Rileigh Morris reached on an error and scored on Howard’s double.
Maddie Harper doubled and scored on a single by Keilie Adams as the lead went to 2-0 in the fourth.
Rock Hill then erupted for eight runs in the fifth inning to lead 10-0.
Howard reached on an error to start the inning. Makenzie Hanshaw doubled and Harper hit a sacrifice fly.
An out later, the Redwomen got an RBI single by Adams who then scored from first base on a double by Baylie Harrah. Kelsey Olderham followed with an RBI single, stole second and came home on a hit by Taylor Hall.
Morris singled to drive in Hall and then Howard capped the uprising with a two-run homer.
Fairland avoided the run rule by scoring in the bottom of the inning on a double by Libby Judge and a single by Bailey Roland.
Rock Hill got the run back in the top of the sixth when Adams singled, stole second and scored on Olderham’s hit.
But Fairland scored twice in the bottom of the inning.
Morgan Fridley walked, Alexis Alexander singled, a wild pitch moved them up, Emily Bowen grounded out as a run scored and Judge reached on an error as Alexander came home.
Rock Hill capped the scoring with a run in the seventh on a double by Morris and a hit by Stevens.
The Redwomen banged out 17 hits with Adams going 3-4 with two RBI, Howard 3-5 with a double, home run and two RBI, Morris 2-5 and three runs scored, Steven 2-5 and an RBI, Hanshaw 2-5 with a double, Olderham 2-3 and two RBI, and Harrah, Hall and Harper all 1-4.
Rock Hill visits Portsmouth West on Tuesday.
