Flyers bang out 20 hits in 26-4 victory

MAYSVILLE — The St. Joseph Flyers have a different version of Batman.
The Flyers were all batmen on Saturday as they breezed past the St. Patrick Saints 26-4.
St. Joseph had 20 hits led by Isaac Whaley who was 4-4 with a home run and six runs batted in and Jackson Rowe who went 4-5 with a double and six RBI.
“Obviously, we hit the ball. Our kids are starting to be more consistent at the plate,” said Flyers’ coach Greg Bryant. “Our pitching wasn’t bad. They didn’t hit the ball.”
Chase Walters and J.C. Damron were 2-3 with a double, Jimmy Mahlmeister and Brycen Canter 2-3, Chase Wilds 2-2, Ryan Scaife 1-1, Clay Willis 1-3 and Trae Crabtree 1-3 with a double.
The Flyers took a 1-0 lead in the first when Whaley singled, stole second and scored on a hit by Walters.
Rowe’s two-run double in the second helped jump start the Flyers’ offense as they scored eight run.
Whaley’s first career home run was a two-run shot in the third inning and Willis added an RBI single as the lead went to 13-0.
Crabtree hit a two-run double and Scaife a two-run single in the fourth as the Flyers erupted for 11 runs.
Walters went three innings for the win. He gave up one hit, struck out seven and walked three.
St. Joseph visits South Gallia on Monday.
