Terry Downey

Aug. 18, 1948 — Jan. 3, 2019

Terry P. Downey, born Aug. 18, 1948, in Ironton to Edna Downey Kazee and Kermit E. Downey, ended his hard fought battle with cancer on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, in Medford, Oregon.
Terry graduated from Ironton High School (Go Tigers) in June of 1966, and graduated from Ohio University (Go Bobcats) in June of 1970. He took great joy in the continual support of his Bobcat alumni throughout his life.
Traveling west was always a huge goal, and Terry left Ohio for California in 1970 following graduation. In 1981, he made the move to Medford, Oregon, his home until the time of his passing. He made a career in the timber industry in lumber wholesale and solidified his move to Oregon, remaining active in the business for more than 30 years, meeting many people and making lifelong friends.
Terry loved the outdoors and embraced this through his enjoyment of hunting and fishing. That appreciation of the outdoors was extended by becoming a member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and spent over 25 years as an active member of the organization. In addition to hunting and fishing, he was a knowledgeable and avid sports fan and reader, as well as a master of the outdoor barbecue and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
Terry is survived by his wife, Anne; daughters, Melissa and Nicole (husband Chris); and his sons, Matt and Tom (wife Brandi); as well as his extended family, Pam and Rick Kazee and Patty and Terry Hammons; along with eight grandchildren.
He will be interred in Ironton, per his request.
Many thanks to Dr. Newman and Cindy, as well as the Asante Hospice Group, whose help has been greatly appreciated.
The family requests that any contributions in his memory be made to Asante Hospice, 2600 Siskiyou Blvd., Suite 100, Medford, OR 97504.
